Snorkeling on Norfolk Island

The beach is one of my true passions. I love the water, I love being in the water, I love looking at the water, I love napping on the water. I go snorkeling from Emily Bay around the Salt House point and into Slaughter Bay at every chance I get.

I'm not nearly as knowledgeable about the marine life as I would like to be and honestly I'm pretty blind without my glasses on but I love swimming around, chilling with the fish and pretty much just relaxing in the water.

The marine life on Norfolk is fascinating. I could go for a swim every day for a lifetime and still every trip would be different. I am most fond of seeing the Eagle Ray's that live around Emily. They are just so incredibly graceful as they glide through the water.

Anyway here are some of my Beach Based photos to date. They are all in  KAVHA (Kingston sand Arthur's Vale Historical Area)  either Emily bay or Slaughter Bay and other than the sand shot and the Silver emily bay shot they are all from 2016. I'm contemplating getting a GoPro for Videos and PhoI can justify the amount while I'm in Brisbane.

Enjoy the Photos but if you use them for anything just make sure to tag my instagram or blog, it's the polite thing to do. Night all, I'm off to bed.

Just testing the waters

Greetings to anyone that managed to stumble upon this blog. I'm just making this as a test to see whether I would like to have an active blog during my travels, I'm thinking this might be an easy way to keep my mother informed as to my whereabouts. Between this and instagram I figure she should be relatively content.

A little bit of background may be in order. My name is Duane Evans, I grew up on Norfolk Island, a gem in the middle of the Pacific. I do a bit of everything ranging from gaming, reading books, watching movies and anime to walking around the island, going to the gym, doing yoga and snorkeling.

I'll be including pictures of things I find interesting and one day I may even include some pictures of myself, though those are few and far between. I've spent the past 3 years living on Norfolk Island working at Pete's Place where I have sold a bit of everything. Knives, fishing gear, televisions/hifi systems, manchester, kitchenware and god knows what else have all been sold to the unsuspecting victim -cough- I mean customer.

My sense of humour is much like my mothers, which is to say questionable at best. I was once told that Norfolk was "a whole island of Shit Stirrers" which to be honest is not too far from the truth. We give hell to everyone and have a laugh about almost anything.

I plan to go to Japan on February 1st which is again why I am looking into this whole Blog thing at all. I'll leave this up for a bit and may even do some posts about different topics until I decide it's more trouble than it's worth. If anyone has any questions or would like my opinion on a specific matter just leave a comment and if I dont respond to that (being new at this as I am) just send me an email. That is of course only if anyone actually sees this blog.

May you have a wonderful day/night, guess that's it for this little page of nonsense.
